„For Manuel Göttsching
“Sacrifice” was composed for the musician/guitarist Manuel Göttsching out of deep appreciation and respect for him. I had the opportunity to write a solo electric guitar piece for a concert and immediately decided to write a tribute piece to Manuel. It would have been in my late twenties. When I heard “New Age of Earth” by Ash Ra, Manuel’s solo name, it immediately struck me as it was the music I had longed for in my imagination. I intensely studied, imitated, and admired his music so much that I decided to go to Berlin to see him, and a few years later, we got to know each other. I met Manuel for the first time at a rehearsal for a concert in Japan, and his musical perfection blew away my joy of meeting someone I had admired so much.“
